Hey Y’all! I’m Shay :)
I’m the type of girl who thinks about food all day long, reads nutrition books for fun, and is obsessed with anything that has to do with my sweet pup, Knightly Rue.
I got my Bachelor’s degree in Fitness Management & Nutrition. While I was in college I also worked as a personal trainer and delved head first into my personal nutrition.
After I graduated, I worked for a holistic nutrition company in Colorado where I helped hundreds of clients lose weight, improve health and gain self-esteem. It was at this job that I truly fell in love with helping others become happier, healthier versions of themselves through nutrition and education - and knew this was something that I wanted to do forever!
However, it wasn’t until my labrum surgeries two years ago that I truly grasped and came to understand the healing power of food. I had two major hip surgeries 8 weeks apart, ruined my gut with anesthesia and pain meds, and fell into a dark hole of body insecurity. I cut my calories extremely low in hopes to not gain weight through the long period of inactivity and recovery. This only caused me to feel hungry, tired, moody and did me no favors in improving my body composition.
I have spent the past two years healing myself from the inside out. I committed to eating more food than I ever have before to fuel my body for recovery. I began supplementing to heal my hormones and gut health. I discovered new-found joy in workouts other than CrossFit - like walking, yoga and bodybuilding lifting. And most importantly, I pledged to work on self-love and learned to love my body at every stage of my journey.
This extreme low point in my life became my best lesson and biggest blessing. I was able to discover the beauty of balance, find food & body freedom, and become the happiest, healthiest version of myself. This process has been life changing for me - and I’m on a mission to help others do the same on their own journey to living their best life.
